How come conservatives never bring anything valuable to the table, like trying to end abortion?

Because they're neither stupid nor suicidal and as such they know that they would lose all of their political power if they actually sat down with the opposition and intelligently resolved some of their favorite hot button issues...so it's in their best interests to keep the kettle boiling
